Hey Mr. DJ!

There are so many elements that are taken into consideration when planning an event or glorious Martha's Vineyard wedding.  Each talented professional surely thinks that their expertise is what makes it or breaks it and you know what?  They are all right.  What's a wedding without timeless pictures taken by a photographer that makes you shine?  Or flowers from that floral stylist-extraordinaire that adorn the table, and are hanging over the arbor....or that single bud sitting beautifully in your hair?  Every detail is important and may surely be noticed if its missing or simply forgotten.  But how about the music?  Music moves the soul and the soul moves those two left soles too, and everyone remembers that!

Hey Mr. DJ...yeah I'm talking to you!  Thank you for keeping the party going.  Thank you for entertaining our guests.  Thank you for setting the mood and playing some oldies to help us remember the good ol' days.  Our guests are surely raving all about you. Their clothes are soaking wet from sweat, their feet are hurting from those high heels or maybe their feet are a little crusty because those heels didn't stand a chance and they went barefoot all night long.

DJ's DC Rose and Smooth B of R&B Entertainment know how to keep that music going.  Playing to any and every crowd.....every age group and genre and two handsome fellas who know how to work a crowd, you can't go wrong hiring these guys for your next big bash!

Good times unlimited, that's what you want at your Martha's Vineyard wedding right?  Yup.  Dave Solimine and Good Times Unlimited, Inc. know how it's done!  And look at that smile, how can you resist that?  Need a little uplighting while you're at it?  Check that off your list and give them a call asap!

When was the last time you saw this at a party?  Good Times Unlimited made this happen....hey, this could be you! (smile)

The Art of Flower Making!

Tonight I attended a fabulous collaboration of an event at Juliska in Vineyard Haven, who teamed up with the cool gals at MV Florist...showing us their fancy tips and tricks of flower arranging.  If you're not familiar with Juliska on Martha's Vineyard, you should definitely become acquainted!  Their fancy tableware will have you ooohing and aaahhing all day long.  They are a beautiful store for a bridal registry and they were a fantastic host for this event.  My Wedding Studio gals, Marisa and Jessica, also attended the event with me and we had an absolute blast!
Our first demo used lots of beautiful roses...in this gorgeous white Juliska vase.
The middle arrangement was beautifully and simply done....in a classic and clear Juliska vase.

Some Tips We Learned Tonight (thank you Marisa for taking notes!):

*Arrangement's height should coincide with the container's height
*Use straight stems in the center and let the bent ones flow over the sides
*Start the arrangement with green filler, so that it can hold all the flowers in place
*Remember to turn the vase as you arrange and to look at the floral arrangement from a seated position if its for a table top

Our fabulous Juliska and MV Florist hosts, thank you for a great evening!
We had some time to browse after the demo and before we made our own flower arrangements...love this crystal gem and the decorative flags, just screamed Olympics!
I'm a sucker for books....especially when they have "Sweet" and "Cake" in the titles!
Welcome to Martha's Vineyard.
Okay, listen to me closely!!!  You need to pick up one of these numbers at MV Florist's retail shop in Edgartown immediately!  Well, at least during store hours of course!  This little jar contains candied hibiscus flowers, that are delicious!  They served them to us in the bottom of a champagne glass...poured the champagne over it and it was gorgeous!  Gave the champagne a pink tint, added a little sweetness and it was elegant and delish'!  For only $8, you need to go stock up and then have your friends over for a glass.
Get very familiar with these friendly faces!  My staff of two...and event professionals in their own right, I'd be lost and overwhelmed without them!  Jessica Barker on the left and Marisa Walsh on the right....are now seasoned florists!(Well, almost!)

This was my very own flower arranging creation and I love it!  I may be an amateur, but it sure looked good to me!
Good times on the Vineyard....A great time for Martha's Vineyard Wedding Studio gals.

Pink and Green Party!

When I think of some of my favorite color combinations, pink and green is definitely a favorite. My daughter just turned four, so I turned her pretty in pink Hello Kitty party, into a pink and green soiree!  With lots of family in town, I made a full buffet of yummy goodness and topped it off with strawberry filled and cookie dough cupcakes.  We had a pink and green party blast!

Birthday girl playing with her new doll!

Hello Kitty and Pink and Green really are a great match....
I try not to drink my calories (because I like to eat them) but I love Izzes!
Pink Polka Dot Love....
A pink party without pink lemonade?  I think not!  It's Crystal Light....sssshhh.
So easy and so cute...love the personalized water bottles...
Pink strawberry filled cupcakes and the big hit was the cookie dough cupcakes!
Green lanterns from Ikea!
And to top it off.....for the adults, I made Sangria.  Oh and that's a rum cake to the right. Keeps the parents happy while those munchkins play and run around until they drop!

Coco Locos, Cookies For Grown Ups...

If you didn't know already, I've got a thing for "blue".  Aqua especially.  I see an aqua lamp shade, a throw pillow or tinted wine glasses and I can hardly contain myself.  Yesterday I was grocery shopping with my 3 year old little girl and while awaiting my deli cheese order (I love cheese more than life itself) my daughter picks up a box of cookies and asked "Can we get these Mama"?  I took one look at this little blue package and then looked down at her and told her "Absolutely"!  She was so excited she jumped up and down and said "yayyyy".  With all the treats and goodies around her, she picked the little blue package....as if she already knew I would never say no to blue.

Not only were these buttery, almost shortbread like coconut cookies delicious, but they would be fantastic as a favor or an added treat in a gift basket for an aqua and pink Martha's Vineyard wedding!
Read the ingredients and description, NOT the nutrition facts!
Perhaps the "Hint of Rum" part added some extra excitement to my purchase...however, as wonderful as these little cookies are...the rum flavor didn't really come through for me....but that didn't bother me one bit!

Expecting the Unexpected...

The stories that pictures can tell!

A fabulous photographer captures our emotions and memories, our most treasured moments.  Whether it's a Martha's Vineyard wedding, anniversary, family reunion or family picture; a great photographer helps us remember these moments even when our memories sometimes fail us.

Lisa Brown-Langley of L.A. Brown Photography is not only a Martha's Vineyard photographer of amazing talents, but she's someone you'll want to call your friend.  When you entrust Lisa with these precious moments of your life, she is sure to tell your story in ways you'll always cherish.  When you're thinking about who you should call to capture the expected and unexpected, be sure to give Lisa a call.

Lisa explains being in the moment:  "My premise is be prepared for the unexpected. In a shoot there is the usual and then there is the unusual. I am an athletic old school shooter; I shoot in the moment and I expect the unexpected. I do not make the photograph on the computer after the event.  I am compelled to shoot in the moment and really capture a simple truth that leaves a lasting impression."
